T-Rex 600 ESP Flight Testing

This weekend also saw some T-Rex 600 ESP flight testing.

I'll split this into two sections, accuracy and power.

Accuracy is extremely good with the 600 ESP. Things have certainly improved over the original 600E. The model now flips straight and doesn't suffer the phasing issues that caused many pilots to start upgrading to items like the Quick UK swashplate, updated washout bases and so forth. Align clearly have this sorted. Pitch response is good and the cyclics are much faster than the original 600E as well.

Power is where the model lets itself down, Align have stuck with the 6S philosophy and it really isn't paying off, whilst you can do full 3D with the model it's laboured and lacks the punch that would make the model feel confident and aggressive. Obviously this isn't being helped by the winter weather and the lipos are struggling to deliver the power in the cold. However, I still managed to heat the motor up to the point that it smelled like burning paint despite the freezing conditions.

Once the weather warms and the lipos can deliver properly I'll complete the flight tests and do the full review as I feel it unfair to test an electric model in the depths of freezing conditions.
