QuickUK 600 Washout Base

Washout

This was always going to be a pretty short review as this upgrade item is the washout base only. So what's to improve?

Well the QuickUK washout hub doesn't offer any weight savings like the Align upgrade hub. However, it does offer a much tighter tolerance to the main shaft and tighter tolerance to the head locator pins. So you end up with a lot less slop in both the fit of the base to the main shaft and the fit of the guide pins to the sides of the washout base. Certainly the tighter fitting guide pins reduce rotation of the swashplate upper balls and much less rotation is present under static load. My unit was pretty tight on the main shaft and required some lube and a bit of working in to get it running smoothly. However, once done there is virtually no play in it at all.

All of this should result in a tighter control system, less slop and more accurate controls, which is what we want.

Pros

Reduce slop
Relatively inexpensive

Cons

Heavier than the Align upgrade washout base

Conclusion

This is a straightforward no nonsense upgrade designed to reduce slop which it does very nicely indeed.

Recommended for those who like a slop free, tight machine and value accuracy in their flying.
