The following is a review of the upgrade flybar hub from Align. This is a direct replacement for the stock plastic part. There were no instructions provided with this upgrade item. There was also no documentation indicating what improvements this part has to offer.
First some pictures of the upgrade hub:
Build Review
In keeping with other T-Rex 600 parts this is of the gunmetal green anodised variety. The part itself is a direct copy of the plastic part except that it is now aluminium. The upgrade comes supplied with new screws for fitting the flybar arms to the hub. Also provided are some new screws for securing the flybar hub to the main rotor hub. I used loctite on all screws that are screwing into metal.
The quality of this part is very nice indeed and I couldn't fault the machine work. The upgrade comes pre-installed with bearings and therefore no reuse of bearings is required from the original stock part. Installing this new flybar hub was very straightforward and I encountered no issues.
Flight Review
Considering this part doesn't change the control throws in any way and operates just as smoothly as the stock part there is unsuprisingly no change to the flying characteristics due to fiiting it.
Pros
Good build quality
Easy installation
More durable than the stock plastic part
Inexpensive
Cons
No changes to flight characteristics
Conclusion
This is another upgrade which fits in the 'durability' category. Buy this if you want a more durable machine in a crash or purely if you like bling. Aside from this there is no benefit to installing the upgrade part.
