Century Swift CNC washout arms

The following is a review of the Century CNC Washout Arms upgrade. First let's look at some photos of this upgrade item.
Build Quality
As can be seen from the pictures this is a very nice purple anodised set of washout arms. It has exactly the same bearings as the stock plastic part. Assembly is good with smooth lines, a very nice finish and the bearings are very smooth running. All in all nothing to be of concern.
Comparison to the stock part
The stock part is identical except that it is molded plastic rather than CNC aluiminium. The bearings look identical in both the stock and upgrade part.
Build
This part is a very straight forward one for one swap with the stock plastic items. Once the upgrade parts were fitted they very similar in operation to the stock item. Let's take a look at the washout arms once fitted.
Flight Testing
Having fitted the washout arms I headed to the flying field to test these out. Before I get into the testing it's worth noting that these washout arms are identical to the stock part except that they are made from CNC aluminium. I wasn't expecting to notice any difference. As it turned out there wasn't any difference or at least none that I could notice in flight. However, this isn't to say that this upgrade does nothing. CNC parts generally survive crashes far better than plastic parts and here is where the advantage lies with this upgrade.
Conclusion
First, it's good to see continuing upgrade parts from Century. The point of this upgrade is that CNC parts are more robust than plastic. Therefore these should survive a crash far more than their counterpart plastic parts. In terms of rigidity or freedom of movement there was no noticeable difference, however, this would change if the washout hub was also CNC but at this time this is not the case. Overall this is for the most part a bling item which offers beter crash durability but little in terms of actual flight performance gain.
